'Must' upgrades for these bikes are:
A race type exhaust NGK spark plug Race clutch Carb jets (get a whole set and see what suits you best)
If you buy a rocket key constantly check your spark to see how the engine is running-it should be a wetish black. They have a tendensy to melt the piston!
Save up for a 'rocket kit'. This is a replacement cylinder, piston etc and will allow the bike to run at about 4bhp.

had to change back to the standard carb. the dellorto copies leak around every orifice and dont make any difference . and dont bother buying carbon fibre reeds as mine warped after about 10 minutes symptoms are poor starting, low power and bad running as if the choke is stuck on. if your cag is like this change the reeds
any bad threads you have wrap loads of plumbers ptfe and refit. all 4 of my clutch housing bolts part stripped the first time i removed them but with the ptfe on they hold good and dont shake loose

The best exhaust for the 40mm piston types is the Viper 3 piece, the next best is the fatboy but the quality is a little poor.
We have 2 cags
1st has cag standard 40mm piston and barrel Delorto copy carb polini foam filter fibre reeds full circle crank Viper exhaust rocket key exhaust ports raised 1.5mm 6/72 gearing
this produces 4.7BHP on Hully dyno
2nd has cag standard 44mm piston and barrel Standard carb but with air filter box drilled to allow more airflow through the filter Full circle crank Rocket key fatboy exhaust exhaust port raised about 1.5mm gearing 6/68
output value not tested yet
Speed of the 2 seems very similar

Hi Mate The race exhausts are normally around £20, £30. You need something like this: cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mini-Moto-Pocket-Bike-Power-Performance-Exhaust-System_W0QQitemZ330134635437QQihZ014QQcategoryZ752Make sure thats its a 3 stage one (3 parts to the exhaust). Jets are only a few pound, they are esential if you get the exhaust. Try these links: cgi.ebay.co.uk/mini-moto-carb-jets-jet-carburettor-minimoto_W0QQitemZ190124412055QQihZ009QQcategoryZ75221QQssPage and cgi.ebay.co.uk/Minimoto-Air-Cooled-Carb-Jets_W0QQitemZ260122540077QQihZ016QQcategoryZ75221QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1V If you get some new reeds aswell cgi.ebay.co.uk/MINIMOTO-CARBON-FIBRE-RACING-REEDS-MINI-MOTO_W0QQitemZ270020271670QQihZ017QQcategoryZ75221QQrdZ1QQ . A new air filter would benefit you too, to increase the air flow. All of these things make little difference on their own, but when used together make a fairly big difference. Lastly, if your increasing the power, get a new clutch aswell, like this one cgi.ebay.co.uk/MINI-MOTO-PERFORMACE-RACE-CLUTCH-RED-SPRING-ADJUSTABLE_W0QQitemZ230143837380QQihZ013QQcategoryZ752The only thing i have to say is be careful how much you spend on performance updates, because you may find that its cheaper to buy, for example, a GP3 rep which will have alot more power from stock.

bit of info on carbon fibre reeds. do not use any fuel additive octane booster in the fuel. i have wrecked 3 sets in less than an hours running the additive softens the fiberglass try using the one piece reed without removing the center bar first. if the reed fails then you can put the tin ones back until a replacement can be got. or as i did have to buy a new reed cage to fit the 3 piece ones

found out there are at least two dellorto copy carbs for the air cooled rep originally for the origami reps. the first one i purchased has a same colour float chamber and the clamp bolt on the right side. this carb has a nylon insert to fit the manifold it is split which means if the carb is not pushed all the way it will leak air but they cannot be pushed all the way on as the clamp touches the manifold bolts. the other replacement i bought is the same type carb but has a black plastic bowl and the clamp on the left hand side this nylon insert has a complete tube which makes a much better seal and in my experience is a much better quality made dellorto copy. make sure you get this type if you buy one as an upgrade on your air cooled cag
